I've got a Compaq Deskpro 2000 (PPro/200) that has an Adaptec 1542 with a SCSI disk attached (the only disk in the system). When I'm booting the 3.2-R CD from the (IDE) cdrom it works fine until it's probing the SCSI bus: aha0 at 0x330-0x333 irq 11 drq 5 pn isa aha0: AHA1542CF FW rev. E.0 (ID=45) SCSI Host Adapter SCSI ID 7, 16 CCBs ... Waiting 15 seconds for SCSI devices to settle (probe0:aha:0:0:0): CCB 0xc29b9608 - timed out (probe0:aha:0:0:0): CCB 0xc29b9608 - timed out aha0: No longer in timeout (probe0:aha:0:6:0): CCB 0xc29b9608 - timed out (probe0:aha:0:6:0): CCB 0xc29b9608 - timed out aha0: No longer in timeout .... etc, etc It seems to timeout on 1,5,2,4,3 too (the disc is target 0). When sysinstall finally starts, it can't find any discs. I've tried to terminate the bus with an external terminator, I've fiddled with the adapter settings, inlcuding disabling the bios, but nothing helps so far. The adapter has the default settings for IRQ,DRQ, iomem, etc, which should be OK according to HARDWARE.TXT on the CD. Anyone has any more/better ideas on how to proceed? I'd be really happy if I got this machine running :-) /Olof -- Olof Samuelsson, olof@volvo.se | Volvo Information Technology AB | Dept. 8215, DA2S Any opinions expressed above | 405 80 Gothenburg are my own, NOT Volvo's | SWEDEN To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
