On one of my machines, with 64MB RAM and only 128MB of swap, fc-cache also used to bomb out during the installation of the port. Now that I've added 512MB of swap, it can run to completion, but when I check top in another window, fc-cache easily reaches 200MB. IMHO it's somewhat too much memory use for such an app, especially when building world, gcc 3.2.2 and the rest of X has no problems on such a low memory box. :) I've run some tests here with FC_DEBUG=512, but it seems to tell that it is using only a few megs. I'm probably misinterpreting the debug output. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: 6.5.8ckt http://www.ipgpp.com/ Comment: http://duncan.gn.apc.org/stoa_cover.htm iQA/AwUBPpRkKrBeowouIJajEQJmwACg1YAWmA0+CRSGtW89qyYKdGITTHEAnjZ+ cAnzkm0ESBpvT2lb1WVVviP4 =waEN -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ------------791836B1B6E0635--
