When you say 8-bit-clean, what exactly does that mean? I've heard that phrase several times in the past N months, but don't honestly know what it implies. (I did a few searches in various places looking for the jargon, but came up dry) Is there anything that can be done on the FreeBSD to make this work, or anything to the tn-gw-nav program itself? I'm wondering why this whole charade works for Linux clients and others (their Makefile also suggests people have compiled it for Sun, AIX, and the bastard of them all, HP-UX) but not FreeBSD.
