Does FreeBSD have such a capability? This uses the new extended crypt() functionality and allows for up to 128 character passwords. The man page for FreeBSD's crypt implies that the extended crypt() functionality is there. A quick scan of the FreeBSD sources for login(1) and passwd(1) don't seem to indicate that they use wide passwords.
