For what purpose? I used a pair of nvidia cards on my amd64 desktop
for months. I've since discovered that the driver I was using didn't
properly support either large LCDs or dual heads (though the latter
may have been a configuration problem on my part). I bought an ATI
card, and now have said large LCD as one of the two heads attached to
the card.

ATI, unlike NVidia, supports open source OS's properly, by releasing
docs and/or driver source for their cards.
