probably something you'll kick yourself for not noticing then... hmm might be something like a permission problem, run ldconfig to be sure. Run it with the -r option to get a list of all the libs it knows about. for example: axis.root-view # ldconfig -r | grep libX11 38:-lX11.6.0 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6.0 (76 -> 45) 44:-lX11.2.0 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.2.0 (13 -> 62) shows I have the old (1.1.5.1) version of the library, as well as the current (2.0) library. -josh
