First what is Xdtm? The README says: The X Desktop Manager is a graphical shell for the X Window System, it provides mechanisms for all the usual shell activities and is intended to reduce the training necessary for UNIX novice to become productive on your system. System requirements: An ANSI compliant C compiler, ideally 'gcc' The X Window system release 4 libraries. The Athena widget set (header files + library) The Xpm3 library from Arnaud Le Hors lex (or flex) and yacc (or bison) a smile on your face :-) What's new in 2.5.5: - This is mainly a bug fix release. Here are the bugs that are fixed up (most of them were introduced in previous version so you'd better switch): - Long listing is corrupted. - . and .. does not get their name when not using their respective specs. - Process can not be killed from process list dialog. - Icons are displayed in reverse video on displays where back pixel is 0 instead of 1. - New resource silentSelection to try to start a program even though the selection list size does not match the program requirements, e.g., the program needs no selection and there is one when you start it. Still in my TODO list: - a shared output feature for verbose operations that does not interact with user. It will be a term window included in main Xdtm window. Many thx to: Simulog engineers (whoever@simulog.fr) for reporting bugs, myself for fixing them ;-) ------------------------------------------------------------------- Lionel.Mallet@sophia.inria.fr - Simulog - FRANCE
