No, kvm_mkdb goes to a lot of trouble to use the existing database. This speeds up booting by a whole 1 second on my 486DX2/66. It was about 5 times slower in 2.0 because of poor buffering in kvm_mkdb and poor caching in ufs. The poor buffering has been fixed. Bruce
