Well, wish is in /usr/local/bin, for instance. I think it makes more sense to put stuff close to each other. That's because the wish port is broken. *Most* X ports go in /usr/X11R6/bin, as USE_X11 defines that. It just seems rather strange to me to have netscape, in /usr/X11R6/bin, call netscape.bin, in /usr/local/lib. C'est la vie Satoshi
