Hi there folx, > > I would like to setup my freebsd box as a news server. I installed > the package 'cnews'. Any documentation on how to get it up and > running? Thanks in advance. I beleive that you need innd rather than cnews nowdays. Even though you can probably get yourself UUCP feed :) from some ISP(s), 99% of news servers are INND based these days. So try to get inn1.4unoff4 , shared active patch and fire them up. Works just fine for me here ( ~20.000 newsgroups , up to 350 simult. readers). I strongly recommend to use ccd solution to speed the server up. I have 3 AHA2940W and 6 HDs - this gives me ~18.000.000/sec throuhgput. PPro 200 ASUS MB fits in nicely as well :) Rashid.
