I am using iijppp with dial-on-demand. The connection comes up up to a dozen times a day. Once every couple of days ppp gets itself into a state where this appears in the log file: 07-15 16:33:09 [7084] ** 1 Too many ECHO packets are lost. ** This message is raised immediately after packet mode is entered, and causes the link to drop. The modem is immediately re-dialed, and the same cycle repeats until I kill the ppp program. Re-starting ppp clears the problem. What does this mean? Is there any way of clearing the problem without killing ppp? John -- Beavis and Butt-Head; Vladimir and Estragon for the '90s. finger jbrann@panix.com for pgp public key
