The difference in price on drives is history (IMO), unless you are
an idiot and buy from the wrong middleman.

I would prefer it if people would not perpetuate this (now) urban myth
of "IDE cheaper than SCSI" any further.

The main price differential is the controllers, and that goes away for
motherboards with built in SCSI controllers (HP, Compaq, ASUS, etc.).

It is generally worthwhile to have a plug in SCSI controller over
a plug in IDE controller, since IDE controller manufacturers are
well known to leave out little things, like shift buffers for the
bus interface.

I would, if people are giving the things away. You can take out
the HD if you want to keep it and just send the rest; I will pay
postage.

This generally goes for nearly any platform where NetBSD already runs,
since I think it's time to start porting, but can't get anyone else to
become as gung-ho about it as I am. 8-(.

Except, of course, in terms of ensuring platform specific code is
properly isolated when the next "throw away" platform comes along
and we want to port to that...
