Netscape will not accept 8bit characters from the mouse buffer, and will not accept accent keystrokes from the keyboard. (Perhaps it will accept characters as "compose" sequences, but I dislike entering characters by non-standard methods). It actually accepts 8bit characters defined as a single keystroke. Oh, it is worse... On my keyboard, SHIFT-RALT-2 defines '@' but netscape uses ALT-2 as a hotkey to jump to the 2nd location on the "GO" list. Therefore I find the only way to enter '@' is to copy it from another window with the mouse. -- Adam David <adam@veda.is>
