I have had a cable modem for over a year now (I think our system was one of
the very first doing production, customer service), and well, it rocks!
The idea of a modem or ISDN just is sooo slow. It helps that the cable
company has a direct 10mb link to the university here, so I get on average
about 200KB-300KB/sec to my workstation on campus. And since MSU is connected
so well, on weekends I get 100+ K/sec out to the net. However, the cable
plant and cable modem equipment can make a WORLD of difference, so buyer
beware.
