As someone who has only booted FBSD twice (before it failed... not surprising since I am not sure what I am doing) I've been trying to learn by lurking,,,, and I'm still not understanding why FBSD and some other UN*X'es put /var /usr /tmp &etc on different partitions. To me it seems like it is just asking for wasted space here and running out of space there. What am I missing? Thanks TjL
