I got a couple of reports from people with a Creative Vibra16X (and a clone) which seem to suggest that their card is able to do true full duplex. The card in question is different from a regular SB16 in that it uses two 8-bit DMA channels. Of course there is no docs on www.creativelabs.com related to this card -- the only thing I could find is a press report announcing the features of the card. There appears to be some documentation on the web server of Avance Logic, which apparently makes a clone of this card. I am downloading the docs right now. I suspect that, to support the new feature, Creative had to slightly change the meaning of some of the bits in the status register. I am going to modify my driver to support this card as well, but I need testers, so those who have one such card and are willing to help please contact me. The cards in questions are: Vibra16X: Vendor ID CTL00f0 (0xf0008c0e), Serial Number 0xffffffff PnP Version 1.0, Vendor Version 16 Device Description: Creative ViBRA16X PnP ASound Plus (Avance Logic chipset ALS0110, ALS100+ or ALS120): Vendor ID ALS0110 (0x10019305), Serial Number 0xffffffff PnP Version 1.0, Vendor Version 0 Device Description: PnP Sound Chip see http://www.realtek.com.tw/cp/cp.html Cheers Luigi -----------------------------+-------------------------------------- Luigi Rizzo | Dip. di Ingegneria dell'Informazione email: luigi@iet.unipi.it | Universita' di Pisa tel: +39-50-568533 | via Diotisalvi 2, 56126 PISA (Italy) fax: +39-50-568522 | http://www.iet.unipi.it/~luigi/ _____________________________|______________________________________
