I need someone to confirm or correct my impressions regarding an IPFW message on my console... ipfw: Deny ICMP:8.0 204.238.179.1 202.27.120.133 in via ed0 If I am reading this correctly, an ICMP ECHO (ping) request was denied. This ping was seen entering the internal wire at ed0. Now which one of these IP's *generated* the request: 204... or 202... ??? Assuming (as I believe) that it was "202...", I am highly suspicious as to the accuracy of this report: the box making the report is on an isolated wire, and therefore could not have recieved this message on it's internal port. The only connection for this test box would be via a dial-on-demand [kernel] ppp link on ppp0. Any thoughts, corrections, or suggestions are very welcome - Please! J.A.
