/kernel: pid 22376 (cc1), uid 0: exited on signal 10 (core dumped)

This is a new install of freebsd-stable, and it causes these errors
during long builds, namely kernels and big apps. I have tested the
system with all the diags i could find, including Norton and AMI,
which turned up nothing. The strange thing is that this system almost
always exhibits this problem when building a freebsd kernel, but the
stock installation of RedHat 5.1 works fine, built at least 10 kernels
in a row with no errors like this.

All the documentation I have found indicates that this signal 10 must
be a hardware problem, but i'm surprised that freebsd appears to be the
only system that will repeat it. In addition, i have tried different
sets of dimms as well (in (non) interleaving configurations,
after seeing several comments to indicate that the problem might be ram related.

Here's my question: Is it possible that the system is somehow incompatible
with the freebsd drivers, thus causing these errors? Here is the startup messages
if they are helpful. [I also disabled the ncr controller, because it keeps the machine
from rebooting properly. ] I have my suspicions about the DPT controller, but
need to move some drives around to test the theory.
