No, no, it's quite common (it happens on my 2940UW, but the old driver is fine 
with this card). You can always check the SCSI cabling but, IMHO, it's useless.

pre2 is there, as a patch to an already patched-to-pre1 system.

BTW, 5.1-pre2 made nothing for me: nothing works, timeout when trying to 
detect devices.
