Even with "options UCONSOLE" set in the kernel, I can't get any non-root 'xconsole' to grab the console. I've tried setuid bits on /dev/console, /dev/consolectl (which has a purpose unknown to me), and xconsole to no avail. Tried on both 2.2.7-RELEASE and 2.2.5-STABLE. Anyone know why this isn't working? notabene gsutter /usr/X11R6/bin $ll xco* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 16384 Oct 28 1997 xconsole* notabene gsutter /usr/X11R6/bin $ll /dev/co* crw--w---- 1 root wheel 0, 0 Sep 8 01:02 /dev/console crw------- 1 root wheel 12, 255 Oct 26 1997 /dev/consolectl Greg -- Gregory S.
