I haven't been able to get a kernel built because of some undefined references 
in sio.o. Even GENERIC is broken.
(cvsupped just a few minutes ago )

sio.o(.text+0x287e): undefined reference to `gdb_putc'

sio.o(.text+0x28cf): undefined reference to `gdb_getc'
