That's entirely up to the person who's handling the PR to decide. There are only a few rules for handling PRs: 1) in case of duplicates, close the PR that was submitted last. 2) if people yell loudly when you close a PR, make them shut up. Both of these rules have frequent exceptions made to them. I never leave a PR open as an MFC reminder.
