Hello! I found the following messages (so far just once) on a server that is running web-server (apache), and an ftp server. This is 3.1-19990412-STABLE with a custom-built kernel with maxusers set to 128, running on a PPRO-180 with 128MB of RAM and ~260MB of swap space. Aug 21 16:00:29 <kern.crit> HOST /kernel: Out of mbuf clusters - adjust NMBCL USTERS or increase maxusers! Aug 21 16:00:29 <kern.crit> HOST /kernel: xl0: no memory for rx list -- packe t dropped! Aug 21 16:00:43 <kern.crit> HOST last message repeated 1354 times I don't see anything in the logs that would indicate an extraodinary load , however, it looks like neither of the servers logged anything between 16:00:29 and 16:00:41 I wonder, whether it is possible that this is due some type of a DOS attack. Also, what can be done ? I am not certain if boosting the value of maxusers up would be a wise solution. Any thoughts are appreciated.
