Hello, I'm currently using a Daimond FireGL 100Pro AGP card and can't get the splash screen to work :P it always complains with the following: splash_bmp: No appropriate video mode found On an other system with a PCI vga card I detected something weird: the lack of modelines with vidcontrol -i mode mode# flags type size font window linear buffer ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 24 (0x018) 0x00000001 T 80x25 8x16 0xb8000 32k 32k 0x00000000 0k 30 (0x01e) 0x00000001 T 80x50 8x8 0xb8000 32k 32k 0x00000000 0k 32 (0x020) 0x00000001 T 80x30 8x16 0xb8000 32k 32k 0x00000000 0k 34 (0x022) 0x00000001 T 80x60 8x8 0xb8000 32k 32k 0x00000000 0k 200 (0x0c8) 0x00000001 T 80x25 8x16 0xb8000 32k 32k 0x00000000 0k 201 (0x0c9) 0x00000001 T 80x30 8x16 0xb8000 32k 32k 0x00000000 0k 203 (0x0cb) 0x00000001 T 80x50 8x8 0xb8000 32k 32k 0x00000000 0k 204 (0x0cc) 0x00000001 T 80x60 8x8 0xb8000 32k 32k 0x00000000 0k fb0: vga0, type:VGA (5), flags:0x7007f initial mode:24, current mode:24, BIOS mode:3 vga0: <VGA-compatible display device> rev 0x01 int a irq 16 on pci1.0.0 sc0 on isa sc0: VGA color <16 virtual consoles, flags=0x0> vga0 at 0x3b0-0x3df maddr 0xa0000 msize 131072 on isa turning on/off the VESA option in kernel has no effect. It can mean two things: a. the FireGL does not have a VESA compliant bios (or none at all) and that is strange as a friend of mine got his PCI (???) FireGL card working with the splash boot screen. b. it is an AGP/splash `compatibility' problem. Clues anyone ? Regards, Ruben p.s. the other weird thing is that I was even unable to change the console to e.g. 80x60 with vidcontrol :P -- Ruben van Staveren - PGP public key on request - ruben@luna.net U'nix, because I'm worth it _ // You too ? - Luna Internet Services +31-(0)10.243.1988 \X/ Postbus 28013 3003 KA Rotterdam NL echo `echo "xiun"|tr nu oc|sed 'sx\([sx]\)\([xoi]\)x un\2\1 is xg'`ol To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-stable" in the body of the message
