Hi, On a FreeBSD 4.0-19991223-SNAP system... I just ran into a situation that caused me to have to reboot the machine before understanding what had really happenned... The problems comes down to: kern.maxfiles: 4136 kern.maxfilesperproc: 4136 Thus, because I had a root uid server that looped chewing up file descriptors, it also filled up the system file table. I realize this is end-user/administrator fixable, but I'm not sure the default should have these be the same...
