Hi -ports, Omachonu, and Ollivier (who is being CC'd because I know he likes and uses Postfix a lot, and seems to be "in the know" about it), I've obtained permission from our Ports Wraith to transfer MAINTAINER of mail/postfix to someone more active. However, along with this update I plan to incorporate the new maintainer's patch to upgrade Postfix to a newer version. According to Omachonu Ogali <oogali@intranova.net>, the new maintainer, the Postfix "experimental" versions are stable enough. This email is being sent to get a feeling of the public's general opinion of the "experimental" series of Postfix. I don't want to make a revolutionary upgrade and have people get angry about it. :-) So, please: constructive comments on this topic. I don't want to hear one single word about "it's labelled ``experimental'', so of course we shouldn't upgrade to it" kind of arguments. I want to hear REAL arguments, either for or against this sort of upgrade. If the consensus is that the mail/postfix port should not be upgraded in this form, then I suggest a different method: we repo-copy mail/postfix to mail/postfix-devel and upgrade that instead. However, I'd prefer to avoid repo bloat if possible. You can obtain the latest "experimental" version of Postfix at: ftp://ftp.merit.edu/postfix/experimental/snapshot-20000531.tar.gz Thanks to everyone for their comments, in advance. -- Will Andrews <andrews@technologist.com> GCS/E/S @d- s+:+>+:- a--->+++ C++ UB++++ P+ L- E--- W+++ !N !o ?K w--- ?O M+ V-- PS+ PE++ Y+ PGP+>+++ t++ 5 X++ R+ tv+ b++>++++ DI+++ D+ G++>+++ e->++++ h! r-->+++ y?
