The trouble with using straight errno's is that they can mean slightly
different things based upon which program/syscall made it. I'm not a VMS
person, but the way VMS (and Cisco, and I am a cisco person) reports
errors makes it very easy to take a flat text syslog output, and parse
the error lines ..)
