Tracking stable I've been waiting for the audio on the machines I use to stablise. The Vibra16pnp in this machine still generates static every 10th open of so; FreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm) Jun 23 2000 19:48:48 Installed devices: pcm0: <SB DSP 4.16 (ViBRA16X)> at io 0x220 irq 5 drq 1:3 (1p/1r channels duplex) My laptop generates static at about the same rate; FreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm) Jun 23 2000 20:06:20 Installed devices: pcm0: <ESS 1879 DSP> at io 0x220 irq 5 drq 1:5 (1p/1r channels) The SBLive in another machine appears to work perfectly ... Is any work being done on these ? It's rather annoying to have sound worse than it was with 3.4-R :/ and we'll lose a lot of desktop users if sound is so scrod when they try FreeBSD.
