Hey, I've given up trying to compile FreeBSD locally since it stopped working (my pcmcia card went from ~working in 3.X to not working in 4.X). So far, 2.2.8 is still the most reliable install I've used :-) I'm not sure it makes sense to continue to commit changes to that branch, however.
