IME on 4.1 although the kernel will correctly detect all the IRQs used by the system (so long as I use "options PNPBIOS"), pccardd will insist on using the IRQs in the pccardd.conf, and if the kernel says "no" it won't re-try with another IRQ, resulting in problems like "driver allocation failed".
