Hello, I have encountered today some fairly critical bugs in the Linux emulation. This is on a 4.1-RELEASE box, i mention these problems in case they have not been seen or corrected before 4.2-RELEASE First one is with StarOffice 5.2, installed and running perfectly OK on the Linux partition of my disk. Setting PATH=/linux/bin:/linux/usr/bin:$PATH the setup program ran fine under freebsd. Then trying to run soffice immediately caused the machine to reboot. After that, i tried to mv /usr/compat/linux to another place and link my true /linux partition to /usr/compat/linux. These seemed to work, but as soon as i tried to remove the old /usr/compat/linux, the machine rebooted. Worst, during the reboot, the loading of the linux kernel module again paniced the box. I had to boot single user to cure that. At least this showed the quality of the softupdates system. Nothing was damaged, i even recovered my partially deleted /usr/compat/linux after reboot! -- Michel Talon To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-stable" in the body of the message
