Regarding -BEET, or -RUTABEGA, versus -PRODUCTION, or -SECURITY, or _any other meaningful name_: My suggestion is to choose one of the former. Why? If you give it any sort of name that might relate to what it *actually* is, there will be users that will read their own meaning into it, like they've been doing with -STABLE, -CURRENT, and -RELEASE. Choosing a nonsensical name will force them to read the documentation to know which one to pick. I like -BEET. It's short, means nothing, and is red.
