I'm looking for a modem which will work with my laptop; locally (in the stores I checked) the most affordable are Elsa/Microlink and Com One, which are not listed in /etc/defaults/pccard.conf. If I pick up one of these, or another cheap modem which is not listed, what are the chances of it working (possibly after some experimentation)? That is, are there PCMCIA winmodems which will not work with anything non-MS, or should all PCMCIA modems eventually be able to work in some fashion?
