4.4-release does work with modems with pci routing.  Except for modems
in ToPIC bridges, I'm not aware of any problems.  No progress has been
made on the modems in a ToPIC bridge machines because I've not been
able to put together a "scratch" laptop with a ToPIC chip in it.
