sorry for a little bit of a repost, but I cannot trace the answer to the original question: http://www.FreeBSD.org/cgi/getmsg.cgi?fetch=1286550+1289451+/usr/local/www/db/text/2001/freebsd-questions/20010805.freebsd-questions Restating the question: I've changed the passwd file to reflect the requested login shell from the user (/bin/ksh). When the user logs in (to the console, or from a remote location), he is still in sh - not in ksh. If the user then executes ksh as a command, the shell starts, the .profile file is executed, and all works well. Somehow, the passwd file is not reflecting the modification. Any hints on what I missed would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Make a great connection at Yahoo!
