No clue.

: I know this one, but I really like to try first to put a nic card wireless
: (or an adapter for a pcmcia card) on a FreeBSD box.
: If none are supported I'll revert to the access point solution.

I know for a fact that Lucent cards work together. I know that the
D-Link Air that I have works in the "demo ad-hoc" mode that Lucent
works in. Some other cards work, others don't. I'm told that other
cards work better with 802.11b approved ad-hoc mode.

OK. This card is Ricoh 5C477 based cards. I have one, and have
tested it a little and it seems to work.

: Zyxel ZyAIR PCI Adapter with its pcmcia card:

No clue. Should work, btu might need some tweaks.

: Buffalo Tecnology ISA (and PCI) adapter:

: http://www.buffalo-technology.com/products/airstation/wlipcml11.html

The ISA ones work. The PCI ones will likely work. IIRC, the PCI one
is TI 1420 based, and shoudl work. I don't have one of these, so I
can't be completely sure.

: Dlink pci card dwl520:
: or the dwl500 with dwl650:

DLINK uses the simple PLX part on its card. The wi driver has support
for this, but others do not.

I've had reports from my friends in OpenBSD-land that there's a new
PLX-like part that's appearing, but it doesn't work with the plx
code.

: Any other pcmcia adapters that work on a FreeBSD box ??

Most all pcmcia ones work.

: Any other wireless nic ?

The Aironet ones work (the cisco 342 based ISA card works, and I've
tested it recently).

Same answers for both -stable and -current.
