Yes, it is. Have a read through the freebsd-mobile archives, paying
particular attention to Daniel O'Connor's ltmdm port.

Essentially, you must compile a kernel module that you load with
kldload. This will provide the necessary kernel-level support for the
modem.

You will then have to create the device node. Daniel, does the port do 
this for you, or is it still a manual process?
