I recently updated my xscreensaver port for 4.0 and noticed that it configured "--without-gnome". I edited the Makefile to change this and got a version of xscreensaver that provided a MUCH nicer interface in the Gnome Control Center. I have not seen any problems to this point. Is there any reason not to build xscreensaver this way? Would it be reasonable to modify the Makefile to build with-gnome when gnome is present? I have not tried it yet, but it looks trivial. Or would a separate 'xscreensaver-gnome' be better? R. Kevin Oberman, Network Engineer Energy Sciences Network (ESnet) Ernest O.
