It removes the ability to do one thing, and provides no new functionality... just a change in default behavior that isn't necessary, to make something "better" that users shouldn't be doing in the first place. I admire the determination shown by the proponents of this change, however, I can't help thinking that you've already spent way more time than it's worth.
