Hello, I would like to add that, in addition to breaking nautilus, pango, etc. freetype 2.1.0 also breaks _all applications that use Qt 3_, including KDE 3. At least on my computer. Instead of getting actual characters, one gets the ever-popular little boxes. Reverting to freetype 2.0.9 did the trick and brought the characters back. In my opinion, this alone is adequate justification for a temporary move back to freetype 2.0.9.
