I'm on a new install of FreeBSD 4.6-RELEASE (on a different HD since boot0cfg killed the MBR of my newer HD). For some reason, now running "X -xf86config ~/XFree86.config" works now, but all it does is run the X server on /dev/ttyv8 -- as from /etc/ttys: ttyv8 "/usr/X11R6/bin/xdm -nodaemon" xterm off secure My question is: Once I have the grey background and letter X for a cursor, how can I either xlogin or have my ~/.xinitrc or ~/.xsession files get sourced (they both contain just one line saying "startkde")? That is... is there a keystroke or mouse click to run xterms and such?!
