Sounds to me like overheating --- as soon as you start to give the CPU
a good workout, or you thrash the drive a bit, up goes the temperature
and pop goes the OS.
Make sure that all the fans etc. are working as designed, and that
vents are not clogged with dusk. Especially check the CPU fan, and
make sure that the heatsink is making good thermal contact to the CPU.
Oh -- if it is overheating, and you keep on running your machine until
it hits thermal cutout, then you are running a high risk of doing
permanent damage.
