Running "fvcool -e -i" works just fine for me in keeping my Athlon CPU cool, BUT the output from TOP, shows: last pid: 2890; load averages: 1.10, 1.07, 1.00 up 1+02:45:27 23:20:20 66 processes: 2 running, 64 sleeping CPU states: 1.2% user, 98.4% nice, 0.4% system, 0.0% interrupt, 0.0% idle Mem: 112M Active, 139M Inact, 39M Wired, 11M Cache, 41M Buf, 11M Free Swap: 650M Total, 650M Free PID USERNAME PRI NICE SIZE RES STATE TIME WCPU CPU COMMAND 2814 root 97 20 872K 368K RUN 36:32 98.00% 98.00% fvcool Yet I can still run all the apps I wish, including X/Windowmaker, without any apparent loss of speed or stability. How is this possible? -- Regards, Brian To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
