 True for snd(4) but not for the Handbook.  I will even say the devfs
 problem is fixed in the Handbook.  Something like:
 
 Note: If you are running FreeBSD 5.0 or later you can safely skip this
 section. These versions use devfs(5) to allocate device nodes
 transparently for the user.
 
 was added where MAKEDEV "appears".
