--W/nzBZO5zC0uMSeA Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline The ports tree will be frozen on 5 March, 2100 PST (6 March, 0500 UTC) in preparation for tagging of 4.8-RELEASE which is expected to happen roughly a week later. I'll run continuous 4.x package builds starting later today or tomorrow (assuming the current 4-exp run finishes successfully and I can commit the bsd.port.mk changes), the progress of which can be viewed online at the usual locations: i386: http://bento.freebsd.org/errorlogs/i386-4-latest/ alpha: http://bento.freebsd.org/errorlogs/alpha-4-latest/ Packages can be downloaded from: i386: http://bento.freebsd.org/errorlogs/i386-packages-4-latest/ alpha: http://bento.freebsd.org/errorlogs/alpha-packages-4-latest/ e.g. by setting the PACKAGESITE variable with pkg_add. The packages will be uploaded to the ftp site once the build finishes. The usual rules apply during the ports freeze: ** NO UNAPPROVED COMMITS TO THE PORTS COLLECTION DURING THIS TIME ** This rule will be strictly enforced. Bug fixes and critical updates will be permitted, but low-priority upgrades/changes will not be. Make sure you get any such commits in before the deadline. Port maintainers and others are encouraged to test their ports and the generated packages during this time; the idea being that we hope maintainers and users will test the packages, fix critical build failures (especially on the often-overlooked alpha platform) and improve the quality of the release.
