I don't > see anything related to it that I'm firing up on purpose. afs is (if I'm not mistaken), the Andrew File System software. It's not part of FreeBSD's base. When you do netstat, it translates ports numbers to service names, based on the contents of /etc/services. That doesn't mean it's actually that service that is running. Try what I mentioned above and you'll see which dameon is listening on that port.
