My system seems to be having problems creating log files: Ku uname -a FreeBSD KualaLumpur.cs.monmouth.edu 4.6-RELEASE FreeBSD 4.6-RELEASE #0: Tue Jun 11 06:14:12 GMT 2002 murray@builder.freebsdmall.com:/usr/src/sys/compile/GENERIC i386 Ku ls -ld /var/log drwxr-xr-x 3 root wheel 1536 Jun 25 03:03 /var/log Ku startx Fatal server error: Cannot open log file "/var/log/XFree86.0.log" When reporting a problem related to a server crash, please send the full server output, not just the last messages. Please report problems to xfree86@xfree86.org. giving up. xinit: No such file or directory (errno 2): unable to connect to X server xinit: No such process (errno 3): unexpected signal 2. Ku Also, the message syslogd: /var/log/console.log: No such file or directory occasionally pops up on the console. Can anyone explain how these problems might be fixed?
