Hi Matthew and Warner, hope you feel well ... the 3 little children above me jumped like hell over us in the sleeping room, so I got up earlier than expected, oh dear ;-) Gives me some extra time for troubleshooting and reminds me to get a new appartement quickly ;-)) Could you or someone else please try to answer me the following questions ... I have to decide today if I have to downgrade my Laptop to 4.9pre. I'd like to help to troubleshoot the issues with -currents instabilities, but on the other hand I sometimes need a Laptop with network support at work != WinXP to do my usual scripting tasks with Cisco devices and such ... 1) can I use 16 and 32 Bit PCMCIA network cards under -current using one kernel or do I need to compile a special kernel for 16 Bit PCMCIA cards ? Do I have perhaps to compile a special kernel for 16 Bit PCMCIA ethernet cards with OLDCARD settings ? 2) My 16 Bit Xircom card doesn't run anymore under -current... Its a Xircom Realport Ethernet 10/100 + Modem 56 aka REM-56G-100. Has perhaps the xe driver got the same performance enhancements that broke the xl driver ?? What do you think do I need to do, to get it working again under -current ? 3) Q: / idea: could somebody make a kernel option from these performance enhancements ? Since they seem to break drivers. Is perhaps a damn work, if every driver has to be touched... But theoretically even under -current things shouldn't be committed that break thinks on the long run ... And since I tried 2 separate -currents which are about 1 month away from each other, -currents PCMCIA support concerning NICs seems to be broken since a relatively long time.
