I have no idea how files could be installed with a suffix of '3.4.0'
rather than '3.4'.  Can you try to build+install the gcc33 port to see if
you have the same problem?

Also what's the output this?

    cd /usr/ports/lang/gcc34
    make -V GCC_VER
