Linux has had DVB support for ages.  I really suggest you stick to the
Linux-API, even if it might be not well-designed: But being compatible
to Linux opens access to a wide range of applications, that are
available and used on Linux already now.  A friend of mine uses a
Linux-/DVB-T based VCR for his house, and it works great.

Would be great to have such apps for FreeBSD.
